All around us we can see construction sites. Whether it is a new home, building, renovation or road construction, this means progress and improvements. It also means construction crews working long hours and in risky conditions in order for these projects to be completed on time. Although employers are required to take steps to ensure the health and safety of construction workers are protected in the work environment, accidents unfortunately still occur.
According to recent reports, a construction worker was fatally injured at a construction site in Cleveland. Based on preliminary reports, the 56-year-old worker was killed when an object fell on him. The construction worker was working at a site at the Cleveland State University as a pipe-fitter.
Investigation reveals that a piece of material fell from the building, striking him as he was working at his designated location. It is not clear what fell from the building and how the fatal incident occurred. Investigation is still ongoing at this time and, upon completion, authorities and the man’s employer will be able to determine cause and liability in the fatal workplace accident.
If you have been harmed in a construction accident or have lost a loved one in a fatal work accident, it is crucial to understand what led to the accident. Additionally, injured workers should gain more information about their options and resources. Workers’ compensation can be very beneficial for both injured workers and the loved ones of deceased workers. It can help address losses and damages such as medical bills, lost wages, funeral costs, loss of companionship and rehabilitation.
